Peefeeyatko Documentary - Frank Zappa The Ultimate Electronic Musician

YOU MUST WATCH THIS - I stumbled on this MIND BLOWING video last night and cannot stop thinking about it. The guy I thought was a Rock Star, had been working his whole life to reach the common place most EM artists are working in today. In this video, he articulates a view (30:33) he refers to as the "musical universe" that is exactly where I am coming from. It took my breath away. This is also the most detailed look at Zappa working with the Synclavier that I have ever seen. Lots of great music throughout and it is quite funny too. I am still laughing at the title.

Jack Hertz 2012 Year in Review Part III - Radio Plays

Where would we be without those Disk (file) Jockey's that keep the airwaves and streams fat with electronic music. These forward looking folks spend a lot of time mining the backwoods to bring new music to the masses. Their support not only promotes my music, they are instrumental in exposing me to other artists as well. I've been very fortunate with a lot of radio play this year. My deepest thanks go to the following shows and people / stations:

Jack Hertz 2012 Year in Review - 28 Albums Releases and 20,000 Downloads

This year has been so massive, it has been hard to account for everything that has happened in 2012. There are way too many people to thank, I am going to have to do it in 2 or 3 parts. My deepest thanks go to you, the listeners and supporters who support experimental artists and the community we live in.

Thanks to you, 20,000 albums were downloaded from the 28 albums I put this year. Yes, I am even somewhat surprised by that number. It was not planned, nor was I keeping count of my releases from month to month. It just happened.

In The Fog Named Ambient Exotica Song of the Month!

My album "In The Fog" on 45 Echoes Sounds has been named Song of the Month at Ambient Exotica. Many thanks for the kind review: "In The Fog, however, is worth your while, as Jack Hertz manages to create a thick arcane fog with the help of synths – so far, so usual – but carefully strays away from overloading them with all too many textures. Everything is balanced out, and it is the interplay between the different patterns and layers which creates the impression of being in a vault-like antrum near a misty field rather than boosting the drugged state of fluffiness or ethereality." In The Fog - Ambient Exotica (November 2, 2012)

"The heavy synth layers thin out and make room for a gorgeously cherubic synth choir-based sunburst which is in constant dialog with the ambiguously acidic-mellow pads and stabs. A true uneasiness can never unfold, and so this tune fades out ever so slowly with this tenser mood intact."

Expo - My First Memories of Tomorrow In the Labyrinth

When I was 4 years old, my father took me with him to the Expo in Montreal Canada. Too young to remember it then, I did see get to the USA Pavilion housed inside the geodesic sphere designed by R. Buckminster Fuller when I was older on frequent trips to La Ronde. I always admired the futuristic architecture of Habitat 67, and the Canada and the German pavilions. So Much of the wonderful ephemera presented in 1967 still feels quite modern today such as the amazing film "In the Labyrinth" that debuted at the Expo.
